Computers in the Classroom

As technology becomes more and more essential to our everyday lives teachers and school officials are making the argument that computers should be placed in every classroom. Not just placed in every classroom. but that each student should have their own computer to do their school work.

Teachers and school officials believe that if students have their own computer on which to learn lessons and do their school work the literacy rate as well as test scores for math and science will also improve. The idea behind this suggestion is that teachers cannot spend equal amounts of time with every student so the computer programs would be able to act as a second teacher to help kids learn. They also believe that computers will eliminate the pressure for students to compete with each other because all the work will be done on their computer.

There are also other benefits, teacher believe. If a child misses school or is absent for a lesson they would be able to log onto their computer at home and enter their school profiles to see what was missed that day. As lessons would be saved on the computer, past lessons would be easily accessible to both parents and students who are interested in reviewing what was taught a few days before. Also, parents would be more involved in what their children are learning because parents would be able to get online and see how their child was doing in school and what they were scoring on exams.
